By Neil Weisman, President, Continuum Clinical
In the world of clinical trials, the path forward is forged through the relentless pursuit of knowledge, an exacting application of best practices and an unwavering commitment to championing patient well-being. We are all very fortunate to work in an industry where we can make a meaningful, long-term impact on the world. And today, May 20th, marks Clinical Trials Day, and a chance to share why working in this field is important to us and the people who can benefit from our contributions to the drug development process.
There are over 120 people at Continuum Clinical, a Spectrum Science company, dedicated to patient engagement, recruitment and retention. I posed the following question to my Continuum colleagues, and here are a few quotes articulating what they love about the field and the immense joy it brings them each day.
Our organization prides itself on innovating and connecting with all stakeholders through the clinical trial journey. Tell us what it’s like for you to work for a company that continues to push the boundaries to improve patient outcomes.
“I supported a clinical trial for a disease that my grandmother has and that I and the rest of my family likely have. It’s been challenging to see her health decline knowing that mine might look like that one day. There aren’t effective treatments available, so it was incredibly meaningful for me to be able to support work that’s trying to improve treatment options.”
– Mikala Whitaker, Account Director
“In the CTX pillar, we partner with sponsors to identify their recruitment barriers and offer real time, creative solutions that are uniquely tailored to face those challenges head on. Our team of experts continuously puts forth ideas that inspire sponsors (and patients) to act. It’s work I can say I am truly proud to be a part of.”
– Jess Rogers, Associate Director of Project Strategy
“Incredibly fulfilling as the energy felt across teams and individuals alike is motivating and perpetuates continual learning and professional growth and self-discovery.”
– Peggy Moyer, Quality Improvement Supervisor
“Working at an innovative company that pushes boundaries to support and enroll clinical trials makes the 9 to 5 routine much more meaningful. When we hear from our clients that our efforts allowed interim goals to be achieved, getting the drug closer to approval, it is so incredibly rewarding.”
– Alex Rabin, Associate Director of Account Leadership
“I take pride in the fact that the work I take on directly contributes to helping individuals on their health journey. When you look at the healthcare space today there are many flaws within it, however there is also a lot of advancement and hope for the future. I believe that we are at the advantage of helping to shape the future of this industry. When EVERYONE is engaged and welcomed into the healthcare space through clinical trials we will have a more inclusive system that works for all people. That is the work I am most passionate about each and every day.”
– Jessica Profetta, VP of Integrated Media
“Our teams are always pushing to find the right way to educate and drive action, while also making sure we remain focused on the patients.”
– Joanna Sheldon, SVP of Client Services
This is the work of modern-day trailblazers. This is the work of clinical trial professionals. They are the engines that power the advancement of human health and their dedication is what makes medical breakthroughs possible. Thank you to our clients, site coordinators, physician investigators, patients and their caregivers for all that you do to advance our field and help humankind live their best healthlife.
